Catholic Theologian Claims Papal Primacy a Necessity for Ecumenical Unity, As Well as Adherence to All Roman Dogmas

Avery Cardinal Dulles is one of the most well known R.C. theologians within Catholic theological ranks who is noted for his staunch R.C. beliefs. In an article entitled "Saving Ecumenism From Itself," that appeared in the Dec. 2007 issue of the First Things periodical, the Catholic Octogenarian declared that submission to Papal Primacy, plus adherence to all R.C. dogmas, is a necessity in order for ecumenical unity to be achieved.

Dulles declared: "One of the doctrines most distinctive to the Catholic Church is surely the primacy of the pope as the successor of Peter—a primacy that the First Vatican Council set forth in clear, uncompromising language…The successor of Peter…is intended to be the visible head of all Christians. Without accepting his ministry, Christians will never attain the kind of universal concord that God wills the Church to have as a sign and sacrament of unity… .The Petrine office is a precious gift that the Lord has given us not only for our own consolation, but for something to be held in trust for the entire oikoumene."

In claiming that adherence to all Roman dogmas is a necessity for final ecumenical union, Dulles quoted the late Pope John Paul II as his authority that "the unity willed by God can be attained only by adherence to the content of all revealed truth in its entirety." (Ut Unum Sint) Dulles added his own reiteration of this statement when he said that "I would also expect that any reunion to which Catholics can be a party would have to include as part of the settlement the Catholic dogmas, perhaps reinterpreted in ways we do not now foresee." (pp. 26-27)

Despite such clear R. C. pronouncements, apostate Protestant ecumenists continue their unabated drive towards eventual reunion with Rome, a thrust that will eventually end up in Satan’s one-world ecumenical church described in Rev. 17.

UN & WCC Reaffirm "Commitment to Collaborate" at Recent Meeting of Secretaries of both Organizations

At a meeting held on Oct. 29, 2007, the "secretaries of both the United Nations and the World Council of Churches "reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate" with each other on such issues as "nuclear disarmament, the struggle for peace," working together to help "overcome poverty and economic injustice" and other economic, political and social issues.

Ban Ki-moon, the UN General Secretary, expressed his "deep appreciation for the work of the WCC," while WCC Secretary Samuel Kobia expressed his similar gratitude for the UN’s work in related areas. The WCC Secretary stated that he was going to officially propose that the UN engage in a "Religious Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace," along with an "international consultation" on this issue within the coming year.

The religious-political alliance of these two organizations, both of which are thoroughly committed to a global one world system, is symbolic of the future coalition between the one world harlot church and the anti-Christ beast, the head of the revived ancient Roman empire in Rev. 17, a temporary partnership that will officially forged after the Rapture during the Tribulation period.

Protestant Ecumenists and Evangelical Leaders Concur with

Vatican Official Who Says GCF "World Forum for Christianity is Vital"

"A senior Vatican official has said that the Roman Catholic Church welcomes a new Global Christian Forum [GCF] intended to bring together the diverse strands of Christianity as never before." Speaking in "an Nov. 9 [2007] address to about 240 leaders from Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Catholic, Evangelical, Pentecostal and other churches from around the world, Bishop Brian Farrell, the secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity," stated "Everything that leads in a positive way to rediscovering our unity in Christ is something good…that we will try to collaborate with, something that we want to be a part in."

Farrell indicated that one of the best things the GCF could accomplish was to break down the barriers that exist between the diverse groups by getting to "know each other better." According to "representatives" of both "worldwide evangelical and ecumenical movements, the GCF was described as a set of "landmark talks" that could "pave the way for closer collaboration" between the two movements.

Dr. George Tunnicliffe, the International Director of the World Evangelical Alliance [WEA], an alliance that purportedly "represents more than 420 million evangelical Christians worldwide," stated: "I’m delighted that many of our evangelical leaders form around the world are participating in this global forum. We believe that this neutral table is providing an unprecedented opportunity for us to engage in the broader church that will promote greater understanding."

Samuel Kobia, the General Secretary of the WCC declared that one of the beneficial results of the new larger coalition would be that "Pentecostals, Evangelicals and ecumenical bodies like the WCC" can "overcome the ‘scandal’ of disunity by "joint social engagements in climate changes and poverty." Kobia stated as the groups continue to "understand each other, we will achieve greater trust and confidence" via united statements on issues "like climate change."

Ed: In addition to the apostate NCCC/WCC and R.C. representatives present at the GCF, the conclave included also delegates from the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Salvation Army, the Friends denomination and other non-WCC related denominations. This unscriptural conclave also comprised individuals from such religiously diverse groups as the YMCA, YWCA, the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization, World Vision, and the United Bible Societies.

This unscriptural ecumenically based coalition was conceived by Konrad Raiser, the former WCC General Secretary. Sadly so, the GCF was officially hatched on the Fuller Theological Seminary [FTS] campus in June 2002 with 55 participants from seven diverse theological strains.

The writer is certain that when Chas. E. Fuller, the FTS founder, began that school 60 years ago, he never imagined that FTS would foster the unprecedented ecumenical assembly delineated above. The case of FTS validates the thesis that once planted, the seeds of apostasy can rapidly grow expanding their deadly germs to former strong Biblical strongholds.
