SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTISM DENIES SALVATION TOTALLY BY GRACE AND REJECTS ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL LIFE NOW: THIS CULT TEACHES OBEDIENCE TO DIVINE LAW—HUMAN WORKS—AS THE CONDITION OF ETERNAL LIFE While attending a county fair the past two years, the editor stopped at the local Seventh Day Adventist booth where he obtained a SDA booklet and a SDA book that Adventists were giving away free at the SDA display. These two sources, prove without question, that despite all claims to the contrary, the SDA denomination is an unbiblical cult that teaches salvation by works and that it denies both the absolute possession and assurance of eternal life now. So that readers will know that this writer is not just speaking off the cuff, he will quote statements verbatim that verify his assertions. The first quotation is from the 127 page book The Passion of Love published in 2004 by Remnant Publications, Inc. of Coldwater. According to the publishers, the above book has been compiled from "the last chapters of the book The Desire of Ages, written by Ellen G. White," the female prophetess upon whose teachings writings the SDA movement is based. In the chapter, "It is Finished," on p. 78, Mrs. White states: "The warfare against God's law, which was begun in heaven, will be continued until the end of time. Every man will be tested. Obedience or disobedience is the question to be decided by the whole world. All will be called to choose between the law of God and the laws of men. Here the dividing line will be drawn. There will be but two classes. Every character will be fully developed, and all will show whether they have chosen the side of loyalty or that of rebellion. Then the end will come. God will vindicate His law and deliver His people. Satan and all who have joined him in rebellion will be cut off." According to Mrs. White when Christ cried out "It is finished" on Calvary, he was only looking "forward upon the cross" to the day when the "great controversy" would be finished at the great white throne, when satan and sinners who rejected the "law of God" are annihilated. In the 31 page booklet The Law of Liberty [publisher not cited, a common SDA tactic; instead readers are simply given a Lansing, MI post office box where they can order a video], the author states on p. 31: "The condition of eternal life is now what it has always been—just what it was in paradise before the fall of our first parents—perfect obedience to the law of God, perfect righteousness. If eternal life were granted on any condition short of this, then the happiness of the whole universe would be imperiled. The way would be open for sin, with all its train of woe and misery, to be immortalized." These statements are grossly contrary to the inerrant Scriptures that clearly teach salvation is solely by grace-Eph. 2:8-9, that repentant-believing sinners can possess eternal life now-John 5:24, I John 5:11-12, with full assurance of heaven in their souls now-II Cor. 5:1, Phil. 1:6 and not to have to wait until the white throne judgment when believers will discover whether they maintained full obedience to the law of God. Nearly 30 years ago, the editor saw an advertisement in the Courier Express, dated May 19, 1978, for a series of meetings that was being sponsored by the Brockway, PA SDA church. The promotional ad stated: that on Saturday evening, May 20, 1978, the pastor Wilbur P. Atwood would be speaking on the following subject: "All You Need to Know about your Case in God's Court of Judgment which is now in Progress." This SDA pastor's sermon title contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture. For the believing saint, the "old account was settled long ago" on Calvary, when Jesus cried out, "It is finished." The Scripture declares that on the cross, Christ fully satisfied God's righteous demands (Is 53:11), that via his blood shed in death he made full atonement (Is. 53:6, Rom. 3:24-25, II Cor. 5:21, I Peter 3:24) and that our sins have been forever purged (Heb. 1:3) and infinitely removed from our former bankrupt sinful account (Ps. 103:12) The writer does not question that there may a few naïve SDA adherents who are genuinely saved, but it is in spite of official SDA teachings, not because of it, and only because they have placed complete confidence and faith in Christ's work on the cross (Rom. 5:8, 5:1). The great need today is for burdened saints who possess this glorious gift to reach out with compassionate love (II Cor. 5:14) and passionately present this soul-saving gospel to all humanity, whether they be atheists, agnostics, cultists, false religionists or lost Baptists (Rom. 1:16). |
