A NEW ENDEAVOR THAT

WE HEARTILY ENDORSE

A new Bible Society, the William Carey Bible Society [WCBS] has recently been formed that stands upon the Received Text (The Traditional Text) as the "textual standard for all Bible translations." Its noble purpose is "to promote world evangelism through the promotion of Bibles translated from the Received Text" and to "encourage appropriate Bible translation projects around the world."

The WCBS believes in the "Verbal & Plenary Inspiration of Scripture, the Verbal and Plenary Preservation of Scripture and the Verbal Plenary Translation of Scripture." The founders of WCBS staunchly adhere to Old Testament Received Text "as found in the Hebrew Masoretic Text" and the "New Testament Received Text" as found in the Greek N. T. edited by Dr. Scrivener. The WCBS also adheres to the KJB as the Received Text in the English language.

WCBS "believes that every language of the world should have a complete Bible translated from the Received Text according to translation principles." WCBS has a list of 11 sound translation principles upon which all linguistic translation endeavors will be based. The Steering Committee for the WCBS consists of Dr. Mickey Carter, Dr. Rex Cobb, Dr. Humberto Gomez, Dr. Dan Haifley, Dr. Phil Stringer, Dr. D. A. Waite, Dr. H. D. Williams and Dr. Stephen Zeinner.

A website is being designed "to provide important information on the subject of faithful Bible translation." The F. D. editor highly commends this new literature venture and trusts it will result in numerous foreign Bible translation endeavors.

Individuals interested in further information about the WCBC may contact it through Dr. Phil Stringer at philstringer@att.net or 5846 North Kimball, Chicago, Illinois, 60659.
